This page,   Papeete  market, flowers..
French

The market of PAPEETE is worth having a glance and you will certainly make there some shopping.

I couldn't believe it : "Rio" bananas ? Are there thus no banana trees in this country ? of course yes, but rough competition on banana led to such a situation..

Bags, hats made of pandanus and palms leaves.
Outside the market, there are also colourful flowers.

Meat : a smal flip of flyer without real conviction.. New comers will be put off by this display in open aire, but it's all good, may be less riskye by listeria than with our frozen foods

Fish stalls. Some bonito (tunas) hanging hooked along another stall..

Curios and catering service on the first floor :
"Be warned ! don't go up on the floor with your fish !! "

  First floor.
Monoi, masques et flêches en bois sculpté, coquillages colliers et
Shells and the very inspired work of the Polynesians. There are also pretty collars of any kind. And a cafeteria, a nice place to rest a little and eat. Or take away some nibbling while continuing the visit, because we leave side quai, with the "faré" of the Tourist Office not far.

Trendy "wild" Fruit rich in minerals and more than bio for growing on South Pacific volcanic lands, the noni is considered as a traditional Polynesian remedy (according to the metropolitan French description).

Touristic souvenirs for both New Caledonia and Polynesia. See Curios and Prices (along with New Caledonia ones).
Works on coconut : cups , combs, palm huts.  Another way to prolong the charm, once back home.fish "at the tahitian" , dessert or oco ice-cream..

It is a common liana, simple and beautiful, with beautiful foliage.
And this one ?

tropical or not too much ?   Click !
This one is not so différent, However, it is a true tropical one, from New Caledonia. At first peek.
On the early morning, the poor one is hanging-dead. She had boomed for only one night, suddenly spreading a buff of powerful perfume. Others will still open, during a few days. In a greenhouse, south of France, she opens around at 9/10 p.m.. Our cutting.. It is a variety of thornless cactus , (Epiphyllum or Phyllocactus), whose leaves are actually enlarged stems that grow on another one, then thins into stems. Origin Central and South America.

Here is the flower which open only at deep fall or night., or almost because she seems disturbed over the years, while keeping nearly the same local hour !!
