Tiki Village (Nouméa, Nov 2000)

The Tiki Village is a Polynesian group but also a Morea island rebuilt village in old style.

Race of dugouts or going through the pass ?

If the flowers are always the same ones, the paréos (pareu) them, are not any more made of of wood fibres (tapa).

Ornements de nacres.

The dances are very gestural and represent an action or tell a history. Races of dugouts, making necklaces, or length of fish (below on the left, with the edge of the hand on the arm) .

Technical : for the women, dissociation of the movements top of the body and bas. For example, the feet run on the ground to small fast steps whereas the arms make slow movements.

One sees here the movement of chisel of the dancers's legs.

Strange: at the time of a " festival ", the men of the Asmat tribe, in Irian Jaya (Western Guinea News), practised these same movements of chisel with the legs (report TV Ushuaïa of the 27 12 2000).

The slow lowering of the body by inflection of the legs is traditional.
